The Quilietti Family

The story of a Scots Italian family

ARPINO Giuseppe 1870-1950

Giuseppi Arpino was born in the year 1870.   He was the brother of  Francesco Arpino Quilietti.

The Arpino’s had landed in England before moving north to Scotland in the late 1890s. The 1891 Census sees Giuseppe working with the De-Placido family in Sandport Street in Leith, Edinburgh. The family were Confectioners and this is where he would have learned the Trade.

Joseph was an ice cream vendor during the 1890s when the great ice cream explosion was happening in the cities of Scotland.  In 1901 he was residing in Lasswade in Scotland and working in an ice cream shop which we think  belonged to his brother Nicolo.

If anyone out there can help with what happened to Joe please leave a note. He died in 1950 in the Poplars Home in Aberlady
