Merry Donati is a descendant of the Antonio Donati line below. It was Carubina and Antonio [cousins] who arrived in 1872 to Virginia.
I have been researching my family history over 20 years. My grand father was John Eugene Martin born in London, England in 1871, orphaned and sent to Canada. He married Edith Conn and they immg to Virginia in USA. After her death he married by grandmother Sarah Isabel Graham Johnson. Also researching Graham, Donati, Brock and Hudson.

1880 FINDS the family Donati in this part of Richmond, Henrico, Virginia. Their address was North 18th Street. They had immigrated in 1872

In 1872, Giovanni Donati (b. June 24, 1826) and Carubina Donati (b. July 24, 1833) arrived in Richmond, VA from Italy. They brought with them their two sons, Andrew (17) and Vittorio Carlo (15). Also arriving with them was a nephew David Donati (13). The Richmond, VA city Directory 1872/73 shows Giovanni and Andrew as Plaster of Paris makers.  Giovanni died June 24, 1882 and Carubina died September 6, 1888. As a post script they turned their hands to occupations of Confectioners

Just 2 years before the family arrived there were very high tides resulting in these mass flooding of the area
