BRADY Elizabeth 1865-1892
Elizabeth Brady was my Great Grand Aunt . Her sister Margaret Brady married my Great Grandfather Angus Morrison. This is our connection to this branch of the Brady family from Monaghan in Ireland.

Angus Morrison married Margaret Brady on 1st December 1893 at No. 5 Milne’s Court, Lawnmarket, Edinburgh. This was one year after her sister had been murdered in that same Block of Flats. She lived in the flat above her sister with her mother Ann Brady and her brother John Brady. See below for details of this tragic event.

HER MARRIAGE to DAVID KANE

Here we see the marriage between Elizabeth Brady and David Kane. Both residing at No. 1 South Foulis Close, High Street at the time. Edwards’s father was Edward Kane, a Lamp Lighter in Edinburgh and her mother Ann Weir. Elizabeth’s family with James and Ann producing one of her four surnames for the occasion. St. Patrick’s Church was in nearby Cowgate where little Ireland was nestled.
It was well known to their neighbours that the two of them would like to have a dram or two. David could not handle the drink however and this led to their frequent arguments. They had four children, three of whom died as babies. One son left who was often left with his grandmother Ann Brady in the flat above at Milne’s Court. He died of measles on Boxing Day 1892.
The Kane family were from the area of Monahan in Ireland. They are also connected to our Morrison and Crawford Clan through another branch. Rosa Crawford who is my maternal grandmother’s sister married Charles Edward Kane whose mother was David’s Kane’s sister
